Patients’ Group

New Directions for the Patient’s Group / Invitation to join the steering group – Thursday 22nd May @ 5pm at Valley Road Surgery

All people registered at Valley Road Surgery are welcome to join our Patient Participation Group (PPG).

We would really like to welcome new members to the Steering Group to bring their ideas and enthusiasm to shape future activity.

The PPG exists to help Patients and Practice Staff to work together to improve the health and wellbeing of all. In the past the PPG has taken a range of initiatives including running information days at the Surgery and talks online. Also starting and continuing to run a very successful chair exercise class for elderly isolated people. Members of the Steering Group have helped some of our patients to benefit from a Gardening therapy group based at Sunnyhill Road Nature Garden.

If you are definitely interested or would just like to find out more then come along to a special meeting to talk about the possibilities with some tea and cake.

We want to welcome people from all backgrounds and if you feel hesitant or nervous about coming feel free to contact Kemi our practice manager to find out more

What is the Patients’ Group?

The purpose of the Valley Road Patients’ Group is to develop a positive and constructive relationship between patients, the practice and the community it serves, ensuring the practice remains accountable and responsive to its patients’ needs.

The PG has a steering group which currently consists of six members, who are all registered patients at the practice, and normally meets at least four times a year. The steering group members are broadly representative of our patient population although it would be helpful to have more, especially younger, members.

What is the purpose of the Valley Road Patients’ Group?

  • Bring a sense of partnership between the practice and patients
  • Provide an avenue for patients’ input in the way facilities and services are planned and executed and influence those services
  • Support the practice in good health promotions, preventative medicine and health and well-being, including providing constructive two-way feedback on patient and community needs, concerns and interests. This may include working with the practice to develop projects, such as health events, to address specific issues
  • Communicate to the practice community and/or the wider community information about the practice
  • Collect patients’ opinions and experiences in consultation with the practice to help the practice to evaluate its service.

If you would like to join our steering group, please email us at pgvalleyroad@gmail.com and we will be in touch.
